GAM offers feed materials for Additive Manufacturing in spherical powder, nanopowder and wire forms. Utilizing our new process development facility, we will partner with you to develop the best solution for your AM needs.

Spherical Powders

  • Ultra high purity (up to 6N), high flow, spherical powders of tantalum and other refractory metals and their alloys.
  • Plasma spheroidized powders are inherently free of voids and without satellites.
  • Can be printed with laser powder bed fusion technology and other state-of-the art AM processes such as e-beam powder bed fusion, direct energy deposition, BinderJet and MIM.
  • Customizable particle size distribution.
  • Customizable and controlled levels of oxygen and other interstitial gases.
  • Good packing density, with greater than 99.5 area % achievable.

Nanopowders

  • High purity, low oxygen, non-spherical nanopowders from GAM's proprietary Flame Synthesis (FS) manufacturing technology.
  • Capable of synthesizing a wide range of refractory metals, alloys and ceramics, that are difficult to make in traditional melt processes.

Wire

  • Can be printed with Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing and other state-of-the art AM processes.
  • Grain stabilized (e.g. with thorium, yttrium or silicon) or non-grain stabilized.
  • Diameters from 0.15 mm to 0.50 mm.

Applications

  • Ideal for small volume, highly complex parts, including open-cell structures and prototyping.
  • For medical implants, Tantalum offers great mechanical properties, high biocompatibility and low toxicity. Porous Tantalum structures facilitate osteointegration, have low modulus of elasticity, and high coefficient of friction leading to good initial placements and nearly zero revisions.
