Global Advanced Metals was formed after our tantalum
operations were separated from the then Talison Minerals to create
a new and distinct company focused specifically on metals for the
future. At that time our key assets were the Wodgina
tantalum mine and the Greenbushes tantalum mine and
concentrating plant, both in Western Australia. Together, these two
operations represented one of the world's largest resources of
In 2011, we purchased the US-based Cabot Supermetals business, which turns tantalum ores and concentrates into a range of metallurgical products and different grades of capacitor powders.
As a result of this acquisition we added the Boyertown processing plant, the Aizu processing plant in Japan, and research and development facilities in both Boyertown and Aizu to our existing mining and concentrating operations.
Our long-term vision is to build a vertically integrated, global business that can supply all our customers needs for tantalum products as well as other advanced metals. We will continue to invest in the research and development focused on new tantalum products to ensure continuing use of this material by future-focused industries.
